An interesting email has been sent out by Yahoo regarding the Yahoo to Bing transition period, which shed some new light on topics that advertisers and general users are concerned with. Yahoo has confirmed it is testing Bing powered results ‘offline’.

In the email, the company said: “Though much of our testing is already happening offline, this month we’ll also test the delivery of organic and paid search results provided by Microsoft on live Yahoo! traffic.”

These testing volumes are to be of a very low level as regards paid search, thus allaying any concerns that advertisers might have – so there should be little impact on those conducting their internet marketing campaign through these engines.

While offline testing has already been happening, yesterday live Bing results started appearing on Yahoo. This is of course a very important step towards the search giants’ merger of search technologies.

According to Yahoo, who would of course say this, Bing will power 30% of search queries around the globe. Certainly a very healthy slice of the most popular pie in town.
