It’s said to be one of the greatest battles in the technology industry. Declaring war on the Apple iPhone, Nokia and Google, the Brand New Blackberry 9000 Bold is the newest technology on the market and its going down a Storm.
Since their launch to fame a few years back, BlackBerry phones were regarded by many as unglamorous devices; regular companions of the man in a suit, who simply wanted to check his emails in between busy business meetings. However after the launch of the Pearl a few years back, BlackBerry phones suddenly became the gadget to own. Since then, the brand has gone from strength to strength and the new Bold has succeeded in now attracting even more non-business users than ever.
While it’s certainly larger and bulkier than the iPhone, its greatest advantage over its greatest competitor is its keyboard, as opposed to the touch screen option. People using their phone for email and business purposes want to treat their little piece of technology like a mini computer and that means they want a keyboard included. It makes business usage much more convenient. The keys are very tactile and you feel like your typing at a proper computer. Even the biggest techno phoebe shouldn’t have any qualms with this one.
For those who want more than email, the Bold allows you to take photos (with digital zoom, built in flash and even a self portrait mirror) and videos and share them via IM, Email, MMS.
New software has made it easier to upload music and watch films and the full size headphone socket also allows for excellent sound quality. The extra built in satellite navigation, wi-fi and 3G speed make you realise just how advanced mobile phones have become today.
Despite its high tech capabilities, I can’t help but feel however that BlackBerry Bold is still more likely to attract those more interested in business use and those who are more interested in owning a fun, fashionable accessory, with all the latest media, are still more likely to opt for the Apple iPhone. Time will tell.
