It is almost a year ago now that the original I Phone set a benchmark for mobile phones worldwide. Its features to combine a standard phone and message system with the iPods music and video players as well as a full internet browser that allowed users to access the internet properly from anywhere in the world. But present times a year on the world has been caught by storm with the reveal of apples brand new 3G I Phone. It is hoping to release the new phone with the same expectations of the previous generation’s sales.

The new generation model sees it edging more to the business market with expectations of companies and business people around the world to buy them. This is down to the I Phone now adopting a new network 3G. This will allow the next generation I Phone to access the internet and load the pages a lot quicker than before. Then the clever part of the phone will allow business men and woman to access their email accounts while on the move as it is compatible now with the Microsoft exchange email servers.

These brand new features stick the phone as direct competitors with the Blackberry smart phone and the Palm Treo 680 smart phone. With the last phone apple managed to sell 4 million products around the world but this was blitzed last year by the new Blackberry managing to sell around 16 million meaning that apple were outsold by four to one. What adds insult to injury is that around 60% of these sales were business users that bought it for the phones practability and user friendly features. And the new I Phone will have trouble with the Blackberry’s non business sales growing everyday. RIM the company behind the Blackberry also have stated that they will be releasing a new phone similar to that of apples that will go on the market in the next year with similar features and options, this as long side the new Blackberry bold that has been released ensures that RIM has the whole market covered. This is because the Bold is aimed at more of the average person user rather than the business person ensuring that there is a Blackberry model for the whole market. This means that analysts around the world are painting a bleak picture of how sales of the I Phone are going to go down saying that they will hardly make any progress into the sales of the Blackberry’s market dominance.

The best features on the new I Phone include the apple store that allows the user to access a simple list of new software available that can be installed directly from the store onto the phone. This software may include an EBAY tracker and instant messaging or MSN. Another feature is primarily for businesses that will enable them to create and install programs onto their employees phones and the American giant has made its program available to all businesses allowing them to develop any program on the phone. There is a wipe function as well so in the case of the phone being lost or stolen by someone the system will wipe the data from the phone allowing nothing to be accessed that was installed on there. The kit has provided much excitement with more than 250,000 developers downloading the program.

The new phone will costs a lot less than the original I Phone at £99 to £159 rather than the original asking price of £269 that may of led to the poor sales figures.
