Mozilla’s chief spokesperson said it was clear that “search is the number one activity” making the heavy focus on searching in the new software understandable. The new software will operate by taking a term you may type into the URL bar; for instance ‘cheese,’ and then it will bring up a list of sites that you have visited recently that contain the word cheese in their names. This will hopefully speed up searches and make the internet far more efficient for users.
Other changes have also been implemented but these are not visual and have been made to improve the performance of the browser. The marketing spiel has stated that it will be ‘faster, sleeker and easier to use,’ added to this, a simplistic approach has been taken in terms of features. Mozilla realise that users find the simple interface agreeable and would prefer not to change it. One major change however is the improvement of off-line services designed for use in areas with intermittent connection. This is designed to help with mobile surfing in patchy wireless areas.
