The new look Google has now appeared on the desktops of computer users in 26 languages, and it is hoped that it will improve the accuracy of search queries, and even better make it easier for consumers to find the relevant services they are looking for. For those who work in SEO, this means that SERPs for clients are likely to improve as users will look deeper into search pages because queries will be returned with more relevant results than ever before.

Search Aesthetics

The key to the success of the new look relies on the ease of refining the search. As some users will have noticed, the options to narrow down results are not new, they are just more prominent, but the overall aesthetics change has as much a part to play as the capabilities of the search engine. The three panel look mimics the layout of Ask, Bing and Yahoo and offers a less cluttered presentation of results, which in turn should keep Googlers loyal to the search giant.

SEO Priorities

As always, this has been designed to keep the searching masses happy and returning to Google to search, an increasingly important aspect as social media is increasingly taking the top spot in search popularity. SEO campaigns have increasingly focussed on social search as an important factor in online visibility, but Google ranking is still the priority for businesses as they try to beat competitors online.

Google SERPs Success

Ultimately the changes are a user-friendly solution to search, and will enable companies large and small to be found more easily on Google. Whether or not this will be enough to see the search engine stave off the completion from social search remains to be seen, but in the meantime it is a tidy solution to the ever-expanding world of online content.
